Linda McCartney meals are not junk food. Another great post talksh*t.

    Thanks

Another fine post yourself, with no reason behind it.

All packaged food is junk. Full of colourings, flavourings etc....

If you want real food grow it yourself and cook and prepare yourself :D

Linda McCartney is some of the vilest food I've ever tasted in my honest opinion- it's like big macs you have to eat it hot with a lot of stuff covering up the taste. I ate a lot of vegetarian food as a child. My mother reckons they've got better since they started to improve her recipes. If you really want to buy it, sainsbury's have got two for £2. You only need four tokens. I was looking at the label and there is something in there called sodium hydrochloride or something. It sounds like a science experiement. Yeah the other poster is right, pre-prepared food is junk. You are better off making it yourself, at least you know what's gone into it, besides it's much cheaper.

Linda McCartney`s meals with the special wine tokens were on offer BOGOF for£1-35 at Morrisons.
Which meant you got four meals and a free bottle of Kumala wine for £2-70.
    That`s a moneysaving bargain.

Odd that isn't it how you have to eat these meals hot? I don't imagine that we are likey to chop straight into a frozen shepheards pie now are we!! I personally enjoy Linda McCartney food and I believe that eating a pre-made veggie meal is far better for you and far more ethical than eating the carsus of some animal. And a free bottle of wine is always a bonus, I hope they have checked that it is suitable for use veggies though, can you imagine the trouble that could cause!!

Is the wine Veggie? Many wines have blood added to clarify the grape juice, even apple and passionfruit juice can be clarified using the swim bladders of fish. Under UK and EU law such products to not have to be labelled with the addatives as they are processing agents. FYI Mars chocolate is not veggie as they use Animal Rennet (Calves Liver) for seperating curds from whey.

PS there is a free tofu sample in the freebies forum :)

Thanks for the info, I am shocked about the Mars products not being veggie I have never heard that before. I have just found out that Mcdonalds strawberry milkshake is no longer veggie as they use animal based colouring now because they think it is better than useing atificial colour.

I will look out for the tofu sample and I am going to look into the wine as it would be interesting to see if it really is suitable for us veggies!

McDonlands have a poor history with Veggie stuff, for years they said their fries were veggie, but they use a beef fat (Talow) extract to flavour their fries, they lost a big court case about this, the fine they paid, they donated to a vivisection charity. Also unlike Burger kings veggie whopper and fries which are both Veg. Soc approved McD has no external approval. FYI BK Spikey bean brugers are fried in the same oil as they chicken products so its not veggie.

The artificial Vs "Natural" is bogus. Crack cocaine is a natural organic product. They use Cochincel (beetle blood) as the shelf life is longer than beta carotene. Incidently the later is a safe colouring it what make tomatoes, carrot, oranges red and orange! It is also an anti-oxidant. The red McD talk about are the Azo dyes linked with hyper activity etc like sun set red etc... Usual McD spin.

Contact Nestles and ask them for a list of veggie products, complain about labeling as manufactures will change. Walkers used Animal rennet in their cheese & onion crisps. Complaining made them change!

You need to check for fish in worster source, as well as Sudan 1 :)

Finally white sugar in the USA is made from animal bone charcoal, we use plant charcoal in the UK. If you need to check the orgin of materials check any of the vegan or veggie web sites.

I saw anthrocyanin on the kids yogurt pot. It is an extract of blueberries!

While you are free to believe what you like I think generalisation like this which are completely without fact are not helpful. What food are you comparing to what? From your post I can see no comparison to so X is better than Y. Some might say you are just ranting? Probably not the best way to convince people about your convictions: by expounding what seems to be an inability to construct a rational argument?
