thank you for that. unfortunately there won't be a defence. i spent the money, paid some, then ran into financial difficulties, ignored the letters and here i am today! it's my own fault, but i'll definately see the CAB and get their advice. thank you.0

I do hope that the CAB will set your mind at rest. At worst, if the court does issue a CCJ, you will still have 28 days to pay, or make offer of payment, so you don't need to be pressured into making a quick decision that you could later regret.
There is little shame in having a CCJ against you (many of us on this board have them so you are among friends)- it upsets the credit rating, but doesn't necessarily kill it dead. It is not a criminal case and you will not e sent o prison.
Good luck with CABI am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.

Thank you for that. i had a look at the forms last night and it says i have 14 days after 5 days of the issue date, which was 21st August. I've an appointment with the CAB tomorrow so i'll let you know how it goes.
The forms are in my maiden name, not my married name and there's a aprt where you fill your name in. i was thinking that as it's in my maiden name, i would use my maiden name and leave out MrY's details. he doesn't give me any money, but he pays half the bills, so i'm thinking of just including my wage and my half of the bills. Do you think this would be ok, or is this fraud?
at least i know now i won't be going to prison, i was really really scared of that!0 -
CAB will advise you on how to fill in the form.
