Hello eveyrone, i've been lurking here for a while - although I don't have debt problems I could see how in different circumstances I well could have done!
I do feel for all of you in your struggles and find you're determination inspiring. I'm on a very very low income (£45 a week at present) and have picked up some marvellous tips here for maximising what I do have ("negotiating" with NTL was great!) and earning a bit extra here and there. So thanks to you *all*.
However, my question just now is regarding a friend who is almost certainly be going to be going bankrupt in the next month or so. He's nowhere to live at the present time and has asked if he could stay with us for six weeks. This will quite probably coincide with the bankruptcy. Would this have any knock-on effect for us (we live in a house that is our own, unmortgaged, we have one small amount on a credit card and no loans)? I feel a bit mean asking this here when we are obviously in such a better position than so many of you and our friend is in such a predicament but I do feel we need to know if there *are* any implications. Then we can make an informed decision.
thanks very much,
-H

Should make no difference to you, unless he has equity in house.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

You may experience difficulty with obtaining credit. To avoid this, apply for a notice of dissasociation, I probably didnt speel that properly LOL, this is done via the credit reference agencies and will put a note on your file stating that you have nothing o do with the bad debt.0
