Best battery deal?

What's the best deal people have seen for AA batteries?
I know waitrose were doing 8 duracell for the price of 4, but I don't know what the actual price is.

B&M, £1 stores etc, but take a calculator as they often have lots of different pack sizes and you need to work out cost per battery as 6 packs of 4 batteries can work out cheaper than a pack of 24.

Our last purchase were Maxell branded Alkaline in packets of 10.

Thanks man. I guess another consideration is capacity in mAh.

I think I might try and work out what my (absolutely terrible) rechargables are and consider replacing them

After some disappointment with rechargeable batteries, I found Eneloop batteries and they're really good. Charge quickly and keep the charge until you use them (even months later). For many applications (calculators, clocks, remote controls) I've found that ability to hold the charge matters more than the mAh because a high self discharge leaves you with dead batteries all too soon. It's also nice to be able to stick them in a camera and have it ready to use whenever you need it.

The Eneloop don't come in high mAh ratings, at least not last time I bought any, but I found they outlast and work better than disposables, and much better than typical rechargeable ones. I believe that many batteries, both rechargeable and disposable, drop their power output below the amount needed to operate devices like cameras and CD players quite quickly, despite still containing lots of energy. This can give allegedly high power batteries a frustratingly short amount of use in devices like cameras, while lower mAh batteries that maintain their power output longer far outlast them.

Our Morrisons were selling Duracell 4 packs AA (and other sizes) for £1.74 this week. No special offer sticker just the price on the shelf. I stocked up last time they had a much cheaper price so didnt need any this time. Other ones the same price were the rectangular ones, AAA and the dumpy ones sorry cant remember the size

Saw batteries in Poundland today both AA and AAA. The were a Kodak brand which sounds OK but I haven't tried them. The website says packs of 6 but I'm sure there were more in the packets I saw. Worth checking out.

I got some duracell rechargables as they seemed to have the best ratings.

From Amazon or Ebay, can't remember which. They're the only (pencil) batteriesI use now (torches, remotes, cameras, clocks etc)

They've already 'paid for themselves' and I've only had them a year.

I swear by Uniross Hybrio rechargeable batteries. They don't lose their charge, come in high mAh for more power-hungry items and are great. I will never go back to disposable batteries. Hybrio get excellent reviews and are well worth the investment. I got mine from Battery Logic UK as I think they've got the best prices and free 1st class delivery.
