How much do you spend on treats?

Trying to work out my budget but I wonder how much should I be allowing myself for luxuries, such as the odd night out, clothes etc, how much do you all allow yourself for non-essential spending?

I think of freebies through the post as treats

£10/week max.The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.0

We don't have treats I'm afraid. Well, we did, that is what got us in to debt in the first place...and now we are paying those treats back.
Actually we're even considering cancelling Christmas.0 -
I have had too many treats lately and need to get back on track!!

Well the hardline dfw answer (as given already) is 'treats, what are they?!' but there's also something to be said for a little money that you know is yours to spend on whatever, without having to justify it. I find that really helps to relieve the stress cos sometimes I just want something but I know I don't need it. On a big scale this is what got most of us into trouble but I'm talking a camera magazine or a sandwich for lunch one day, as long as it doesn't blow the budget I figure it helps to keep me on track.
In answer to your question, about £5 a week. If I want something more than that I'll save up my 'pocket money' until I can get it.Don't stress, relax, let life roll off your backs. I spend whatever loose change I can find in the car, or in my office - it's money that I didn't know I had and, as it's rarely enough for more than a Mars bar, I don't consider it squandering.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

I save copper coins and 5p coins and every now and then bag them up and take them to the bank to exchange for a note to use for a treat. Something very satisfying about it as it's a painfree way of saving.Debt at highest: £6,290.72 (14.2.1999)

I spend a lot more than I should probably admit to on this board!:o
I probably spend about £30 - £50 a month on food treats as I often get stuff from M&S.
I know some people on here will be horrified by that figure but everyone has to do what is right for them and their personal situation.
I can justify spending that to myself by the fact that I work a couple of hours more a week which means I earn more than the £30 - £50 I spend in treats on food. Also I rarely drink these days, this year I haven't spent much on alcohol and the money I mentioned includes alcohol.
I don't smoke and rarely buy new clothes.
Also thanks to this site my debt is actually going down due to being more savvy where my credit cards are concerned and only using one credit card these days which I pay off in full every month and I earn points from it which gives me vouchers every quarter which I can use to buy treats.
I made the decision to be less strict as it was making me so miserable and I was not a nice person to be around sometimes.0 -
I agree with the above, allowing myself treats is what got me into debt in the first place and the way I look at it is every penny that passes through my fingers isn't mine, it belongs to Egg, or Virgin Loans or Peugeot finance! When I'm debt free - all my money will be mine!
Although I do treat myself occaisionally but it will be 99p on a face mask from boots or a packet of biscuits for the cupboard. It all depends on the individual I reckon. Once you are used to living a DFW life, you would count ANYTHING extra as a treat! Was debt free... then went travelling!0
