Claiming back bank charges and holiday!

in Debt-free wannabe
We're booked to go on holiday on 30/09/06 - 07/10/06 and will be out of the country during this time. I really want to send my preliminary letter off to HSBC but am concerened that things might happen while I'm away.

Does anyone have experience of this or advice to offer? Would I be best to wit until I get back from holiday? Or can I let MCOL know in theonline form that I'll be away for those dates? I'd hate to leave it too long!

    I'd probably wait angel especially if you're going to use the bank facilities while you're away. At least then you'll have peace of mind & won't be fretting over it. Plus you'll come back refreshed (hopefully! ;)) & ready to take on the world. Enjoy! :)

    Meep! I've done it anyway!!!

    I don't use HSBC AT ALL as I'm doing my DMP with CCCS and have account set up elsewhere so I don't care what they do with that account. TBH the quicker they get it to default the better with me cos at the mo the overdraft is going up and up but loan is going down and feel like I'm in lose-lose situation!

    Thank you for your advice. I feel guilty about going on holiday but OH's Mum is paying and we're paying her back what we can afford and when (she's aware of the situation). Also, I haven't had a holiday for years and this is a biggy (NEW YORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) We're going over to meet OH's brother as a family so I'm very excited!

    Good for you angel. Being in debt shouldn't mean feeling guilty about any little pleasure you can grab - we're entitled to a fair standard of life. I lived in the US & in New York for a few years - you'll have a great time. Best time of year too. Probably still really warm in New York though I haven't been in touch there for a few weeks now.

    I'm off to Cyprus myself soon. Staying at my brother's and mum's paying the air fare!

    A DFW holiday if there ever was one!
