Dodgy and rude call from eon saying we'd won - help?

My OH was called by eon earlier today and was at work so answered and put the phone down. Chappie rang back and left a voicemail saying he was telling him that he'd won a competition for an all expenses paid trip to the Carribbean but as OH was rude and put the phone down on him, he's going to ring the next person.

I smell BS, but what an awful thing to say! I had a quick search and I can't find any such competition. Can anyone remember it? I have a right mind to ring him back and tell him that it's against some sort of marketing code (which I'm sure it is!) and report him to his manager! Cheeky sod.

There have been lots of complaints about EON on here, I think it's to do with the 'win a grand' comps that were about. He probably thought he would wind you up by saying that you'd won.

That's awful - I definitely think further action is needed as that is bang out of order!! Ive had a few calls from E-on but not had any problems and no-one saying Id won anything!! Just trying to get me to switch supplier.

I personally would email Head Office (Eon), preferably the MD or as high as you can go, with an audio clip of the voicemail, including a note as to what time the message was left. At the very least the caller deserves a stern telling off, but then it is Eon - it might be company policy to wind people up (fed up with calls from them asking me to switch!!!)

Personally I can't see Eon giving away such a nice prize anyway!

I have won a few prizes with EON and they normally send wems. The customer service department is awful

Sorry to hear this.. def complain...
but in future I find the best way to avoid eon calls is just to say you are already with them...
