CIS Endowment

Hi, I'd be grateful for any opinions on my husbands CIS endowment policy. It's a mortgage endowment that was taken out when he was in th forces but our mortgage is a repayment one so we're just using it as savings plan. The original target was 20k and these are the figures we just received.

Monthly Premium - £31.50
Term - 25 years
Maturity date - 1st September 2013

Estimated benefits
4% - £16,500
7.5% - £18,600

Surrender value - £13,982.60

Does anyone know what the chances are of it reaching 4%? Anyone opinions gratefully received.

My instinct would be that there's a fair chance, but £14k now as against £16.5k (possibly) in 3 years time ? Remember that you'll be paying nearly £1k in premiums out of that £2.5k too. I think I'd take the money now.

Thanks for your opinion, I must admit that we're leaning towards surrendering at the moment.
