Hi,
I have recently been declined a loan from my bank despite having excellent credsit scores from both Equifax and Experian (496 & 999.)
I just wondered if there was anyway i could find out lenders criteria before applying for a loan and damaging my credit score?
Any advice would be much appriciated.
Thanks!

There are threads on here claiming people should never have been granted a loan, and then you get those like this complaining they've been declined - shouldn't you be pleased you've been declined, isn't it doing you sa favour in the long run - you dont want to be posting on here in 3 years saying you think you should never have been lent the money!
Lenders really cannot win it seems.0 -
With all due respect, I have had loans previously which have all been settled without missing a payment. To put my situation in direct comparison to someone who posted that they are in debt and should never have been granted a loan is both, in my opinion, arrogant and condesending.
This was a genuine question and your response moves away from the point completley, instead focusing on the fact the people complain when they cannot repay their debts.
Of course lenders can win, there are people who have had previous credit with no problem, and have a good credit rating. Your comments are utterly pointless but thanks anyway.0 -
Hi,
All lenders have their own criteria for lending but the main thing that they look for is stability - length of time at address, residential status, length of time in job, are you on the electoral roll, landline, other credit commitments - how these have been maintained and balances of existing debts based against income.0 -
Nobody will advertise what their lending criteria is or people like you would manipulate your application to suit wouldn't they?0

It seems the more you post on this site, the more judgemental people become?
With Conrad and Jones posting 18000 between them they must think it gives them the right to pontificate the way they have done here?
This poor chap just wants to know if he can find a way to the most suitable lender for his circumstances with an innocent query, for those not in the know, on whether lenders publish their lending criteria.
He is not saying he wants to manipulate this, as Jones infers, and Conrads conclusion that he cannot afford the loan also jumps to conclusions.

They hold all of the underwriting criteria for their panel of lenders and conduct a soft search which will tell you which lender will accept your application.Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0 -
Exactly my point Standupguy!
I have only joined these forums for advice and all you get is "no it alls" automatically assuming you want the information for illegal reasons. To be fair none of them know your personal circumstances etc.
All i wanted to know was the most appropriate lender to approach for my circumstances.0 -
To get an accurate answer you need to post full details of your current position.
Income, debts, stability etc.. without this, anyone's reply is a complete guess.
The more you put into a post, the more you will get out of it.
It is a shame but the overwhelming majority of posters on here are in dire financial straights but obtaining more credit is the top priority.0 -
