Buttonholes/Corsages, whats the deal?

Options
Right, I have a question...

Who typically has buttonholes and corsages? Who has more elaborate ones?

Im talking traditionally. Im not looking for the MSE way, or anything like that. Ill work on that when I know a starting point! :rotfl:

Im looking for the traditional views on it. Can someone help??

Thanks xx

    Hi

I think the groom is the only one with a fancy one, Im having them for all the men in the party more simple versions. Best man, groomsmen and the two fathers

At some weddings all the guests have a buttonhole, cheaply a carnation.

More often these days, only the wedding party has them.

I'm having an elaborate buttonhole with purple and lilac for H2B, a simpler version with just lilac for Best Man, ushers, my dad and h2bs dad.

Then my grandad and OH's 2 grandads are having an ivory rose buttonhole. (Wanted them to feel special)

My mum, oh's mum and grandmas are all having corsages.

traditionaly a buttonhole is a white carnation worn by the groom his men and father of the bride
corsages(a small bouquet of flowers) are worn by mother and grandmother of the bride and groom
I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p

Well after discussing it with parents and OH last night we are going with:
    Fancy one for my OH,
Nice ones for ushers, FOB, FOG, step father of bride, step father of groom & pageboy, and 4 x grandparents
Corsages for MOB, step mum of bride, MOG, step mum of groom

If anyone else wants them ill give them the number for our florist so they can order (and more importantly) pay direct :-)

  • At my sister's wedding, the groomsmen (groom, FoB, FoG, my grandad, best man and ushers) had buttonholes. Both the mums and my gran and nanna had corsages.

We're providing the immediate wedding party with flowers:

    Buttonholes - Groom (fancy one), Best Man, OH's dad, DS1 & DS2, Bridesmaid's hubby
    Corsages - Bridesmaid (wrist corsage), OH's mum (silk), Best Man's wife, DS1 & DS2's G/F's

Anyone else that wants one can buy their own - we're on a budget that is bursting at the seams without anything like that!
