How about getting a 'learn to knit' book from the library, rather than easier patterns... It usually explains all the abbreviations used in patterns and a simple diagram and explanation of each one.. also sometimes they have easy projects in the book... also its FREE.....:T
Good luck I love knitting but my grandkids don't want to wear anything hand knitted anymore... I know its fashionable but they just don't get it.:rotfl:#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Can you let us see the pattern so that we could explain what you have to do - possibly!True wealth lies in contentment - not cash. Dollydaydream 20060

Just what I was thinking. Type up here the line/s you can't do and hopefully one of us will be able to explain to you. Even the most complicated sounding pattern is simple once you know what it is asking you to do.0 -

Yes, it can seem very difficult if you don't know what it means but once you know its quite simple really! Im sure there are lots of us here that could help you through the whole pattern as you do it!0 -
Have you seen the magazine Simply Knitting? It has some great easy patterns in & has some good instructions on the basics like increasing, decreasing casting on & off etc.
I think I went onto bags after scarves, then hats, then jumpers & now socks!
Or maybe we could all help you with your pattern?0 -
Thanks for the offers of help, you are all so kind .
I just been to the library and got myself a book called
learn to knit by penny hill.
I am going to have a good read and it has 11 easy projects which arnt very modern but if I use modern funky wool may look alot nicer.
#Will let you all know how I get on and will post on here if stuck.
thanks0 -

The best thing about knitting is that if it goes wrong you can un-ravel it and then start again, and again, and again (at least that was how it was when I was learning)True wealth lies in contentment - not cash. Dollydaydream 20060

Innocent drinks want teeny woolly hats to go on their drinks and I wanna make one. See: http://www.innocentdrinks.co.uk/supergran/. 50p from each sale will go to Age Concern.
How do I get started?0
