Newbie - Finally getting myself sorted!

Well I mangaed to break the news of my debt to my parents last night after spending all day worrying about it.
Their reaction - They went absolutely balistic as I have lied to them about having debts.
They have demanded to see all the paperwork to do with my Trust Deed and all my money outgoings. Dad thinks I have ruined my life as I wont be able to get a decent mortgage when I eventually get a place of my own or credit for anything once I have been released from the Trust Deed in March 2009.
The only plus is they are going to put some of the money away for me to help towards my car maintanence in a savings account they have already.
I know I have let them down and have let myself down baddly.
Now I've told them, Why do I still feel so aweful?DFW Nerd no. 177

PROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBTS0 -
Hi PMS, I'm sorry you're still feeling bad even after telling your parents, Now they've gone ballistic, they'll calm down. I see that their second reaction was to want to help, once they'd come down off the ceiling, which is good.
Try not to feel so guilty - what's done is done, and now you're sorting it out, which is to be commended.
Keep your chin up, and well done.Debt at highest: £6,290.72 (14.2.1999)

Parental update!
My parents have now had a look at all the paperwork regarding my Trust Deed and thankfully tonight have been 1000% calmer than they were last night.
I have been ordered not to spend unless I really have too.
They are going to look after some money for me in a savings account they have already
Mum has even offered to buy things like my toiletries which will save me some money as well. I guess once they had calmed down from the initial shock they are willing to help me out after all.
All in all things are looking up and I'm feeling so much better

That is really good news pms. I guess we all tend to over react to news like that and they only want what is best for you. It is great they are going to be helping you out.Julie
Proud to have dealt with my debts

Now Debt Free!!!! :j0 -
I've been thinking about you and the 'telling your parents' scenario since you posted the other night. I got the feeling that it worried you in some ways more than the actual debt did. I'm so glad it went well. Well, eventually
Eek! Someone's stolen my signature! :eek:0 -
Great news. I felt sure they would want to help. I'm sure that's a load off your mind.
Best of luck.Debt at highest: £6,290.72 (14.2.1999)

To be honest recently it has been a bigger worry to me than the debt.
Because they have never been in debt other than their mortgage and the credit cards they pay off monthly they really didn't know what a Trust Deed was.
I think after reading over everything and asking 40 million questions mum and dad understand the Trust Deed more now. They even said they had no idea what it was or how it worked and that why they were asking so many questions.DFW Nerd no. 177

The one thing I have neglected to say throughout all of this is I have been with my OH since November 2005 and in December when we spent our 1st block of time together (he lives 332 miles away, we see each other twice a month if we're lucky) I spilled out to him about my debt problems and he has been nothing but supportive and has helped me through when I have felt aweful even when its just been a long chat over the phone.
Today feeling alot more positive, even although my mum told me dad was ready to ban me from going on holiday in 4 weeks time, thankfully paid for my flights so being allowed to go!DFW Nerd no. 177
