You may be able to get out if you ask them nicely and it's obvious that your income for the last few years has only been from one source of PAYE. At least I managed it: I'd been self employed although not earning enough to pay tax, and then had to carry on with tax returns for a few years after I gave that up. I phoned to ask if there was any way of not doing this any more, and I did that last one, then wrote and outlined my situation. Haven't had another one since. Bliss!continualdiamond - we try to avoid getting into the tax return system in the UK becasue once you are in it, its impossible to get out - you can't just opt out or you get fined.Signature removed for peace of mind0
