Bored of looking...

Anyone else bored of looking for jobs - i've not looked for the past couple of weeks. I can't believe how rubbish it is right now, i'd relish the offer of an interview let alone a job but sadly I can't get either.

One good thing is that I may be eligible for free training (now they tell me after 5 months on the Flexible New Deal bullshine!) but that's only for CSCS, SIA or Forklift licence but anything's better than nowt and it's something else to put on my CV I suppose.

Unless you are actively seeking work you should sign off JSA. You won't get an interview, much less a job, if you give up looking.

Can you tell me more about free training?

I'm in the same position, job hunting is very boring, but keep trying. On the Direct Gov website you just need to fire off your CV by email, so it's easy enough to do :)

I've been unemployed since Dec 2008, although I had the money to take a year out to bring our newborn up but now I've been on the Flexible New Deal with my new Jobcentre partner (Seetec) since January and only now I've been told I can get free training as Seetec would pay for it.

BUT - it still goes on postcode and due to my current defeatist nature I probably won't be eligible for some reason! Worth a try though, got my interview for the free training on 15 June as they are inundated apparently.

I have to keep signing on JSA to keep up with my stamp/credits - I'm not eligible for any JSA money or any other benefits as my pregnant partner works full time.

The only problem with not looking is that when you start again, you may find a job with a closing deadline which is very tight for you.

We were shortlisting today, and the manager said that one of the applications looked very rushed, the applicant might have been suitable but hadn't demonstrated it sufficiently. Since I sent out one form after midnight last night which had been returned by midday today, that's rushed!

What is your current job and why do you feel as if it's a curse?

You still have to be actively seeking work, even just to claim NICs.
