An easy recipe/science experiment that can be covered with chocolate to replace a cadburys crunchie.
All you need is
4 tablespoons Sugar
2 tablespoons Golden Syrup
2 teaspoons Water
1 teaspoon Bicarbonate of Soda
Melt the Sugar and syrup in the water in a pan until it disolves then whack the heat up and boil it for about 6 to 7 mins
Then add the bicarbonate of soda and quickly stir it in and pour into a greased baking tin
Mark into pieces while still warm
This is also rather yummy broken into pieces and stirred into vanilla icecream.
Dont blame me when the dentist bills mount up !!

;D ;D
its very chewy what did i do wrong0 -
glad you liked it
as for the problem of it being a bit chewy it does need to be kept in a air tight container asap. Ive also seen another recipe where they miss out the golden syrup and use vinegar in it (which should suit you Cathy)
here goes :
500g granulated sugar
300ml water
4 tbsp vinegar
½ tsp bicarbonate of soda
Exact same proccess for making it. I havent tried this one so I cant vouch for it.0 -
mmm made some more this morning, to go with the ice cream i made for after tea tonight. best thing tasted in years. might leave it out if it goes chewy, should keep kids quiet after tea. ;D ;D ;D ;D0

There are 2 ways Murtle the cheap way and the really cheap way I will start a new post so that everyone has a chance to try them0 -
........must try this but will have to wait until tomorrow - no granulated sugar. My Mum loves crunchie so I'll let her try it first ::) and it sounds delicious crumbled into icecream.
I've just realised it's something else to dip into melted chocolate - that's what crunchie is after all.0
