1 missed mortgage payment

My partner recently changed jobs and for some reason!!!! we wanted to change the mortgage to his pay day 20th of each month. We contacted Santander who advised us over the phone that that was fine but that we would have to pay the interest that would accure between the original payment date and the revised one - this was fine and they sent a letter to confirm that the date had been changed and listed the payment schedule including the extra interest, came to the 20th of last month and the payment didnt show on the online banking and also no dd on my listing, so we called them they advised us that they had had the payment and that all was fine, later on in the beginning of May we received another letter saying that the payment was in arrears and that we needed to contact them straight away - which we did they advised they hadn't received any money so we arranged to pay half this month and half next as we had assumed the money had been deducted from our account and used the (spare) money to pay off some extra bills (stupidly!!!) so later on we received another letter to say that the dd had again been set up and phone on Thursday the 20th to say nothing was on the dd list and nothing on the statement, we paid the agreed arrears amount plus now have paid this months mortgage to avoid any further problems. Will this hick up list as a black mark on my partners credit file and how will that impack on the chance of getting another fixed rate next year????? please help, he is stressing about it and doesnt see that its his fault!!

You should be fine - you get notice that it will show as missed.
If though, it does show as mussed, then get them to go through the recorded calls and this will also cover you.
(next time you have a spare amount in the bank which should have paid the mortgage off - don't spend it on other stuff!!)Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Sounds just like the usual Santander inefficiency:(0

I have to say they have always been fairly good but just recently - since changing names!!! They have been rubbish. Cant understand how it can be so difficult to set up a dd, especially when its coming from a Santander bank account!!!0
