working bank holidays

Hi
Saw my daughter today and she was saying that she's got to work next monday - bank holiday - so I commented that at least she'll will be paid extra. She said no apart from Christmas and Easter all other bank holidays are basic pay. I said that this was incorrect as far as I was aware all bank holidays are either time and a half or double pay, she said her employer says they have to work it if its their day on and will not pay extra.
Can someone confirm what the rles are regarding bank holidays and pay.
Thanks

There are no rules. You can be required to work bank holidays for no extra pay.I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

I would imagine that it all depends on an individual's conditions of service and contract of employment with respect to payment if you work bank holidays and what time of in lieu you get. Maybe however there is some minimum entitlement that an individual might have in employment law.0

There is no statuatory right to enhanced pay for any bank holidays (including Christmas or Easter). It will be whatever your contract states. Lots of people will be working holidays without extra money.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

It will be in the contract about time and half for BH, previous job used to be paid at time and half but they stopped that last year, theres nothing that says BH should be payed at time and half0

When I used to work a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, if the holiday fell during the days "on" we'd just get paid as usual.
But if we volunteered to work a bank holiday which wasn't part of the usual pattern (ie an extra day) we would get double time
Your employer can count bank holidays towards your 28 day holiday entitlement.

Most employers changed their rules on BH pay when the statutory holiday entitlement increased from 4 weeks to 5.6 weeks, I know we did. Effectively for us nothing has changed, we used to pay double time when it was 20 days holiday per year now we pay single time but they get the day off in lieu if they work it!0

I work Bank Holidays for no extra pay other than my basic rate. I can then take it as a lieu day another time to suit me me. It suits me quite well but I suppose not everyone would be happy doing that especially if they have family ties.0
