Hey, I have a face to face interview tomorrow for the HBOS job in Leeds. The role is serving customers over the phone.
I was just wondering if anyone has completed this interview with HBOS and if they could pass on their wisdom. Desperate to get this job!
ANY help at all would be greatly appretiated!
Thanks in advance!

- The interview will cover a variety of areas including your customer focus, communication, resilience and flexibly in the workplace.
- Take time to think of some examples from your work or personal life when you have demonstrated the above skills. Try to remember what you did, how you did it and why you did it.
- The role-play exercise does not test your knowledge of HBOS it is a mock telephone call with one of our assessors who will be playing the role of a customer. The exercise will help us to establish your communication, results orientation and customer orientation skills.
- It will be useful to find out as much as possible about HBOS and the role prior to the event. You could do this by looking at the website (hbosjobs.co.uk), or talking to someone you know who works for us.

Hi,
I have not had an interview with HBOS but I used to work for a bank and you will definately get asked this question:
Take time to think of some examples from your work or personal life when you have demonstrated the above skills. Try to remember what you did, how you did it and why you did it.
It is a competency based question. Also think of how you would do it differently next time.
Try to think of a couple of senarios as they will ask the question again and twist it.
Sorry, I can't be more helpful but I wish you lots of luck. :beer:I am currently paying back my repossession shortfall about £13,000 to go!! but still smiling:j0 -
Thank you! Every little bit of information helps!0

Regardless, I got the job!
For anyone who searches on google for HBOS Selection Academy then I hope this comes in useful.
There are 3 sections to the interview. First they sit you in the canteen with a member of staff while they sort out all your paperwork, this person will be judging you throughout so be nice and ask questions (even though he says he is just sitting in and keeping you company).
You then have role-play. You have 10 mins to read through information then someone will call you. Aslong as you are confident and know where you have gone wrong you will pass. I made many mistakes due to pressure but I knew what I could have done better and told the interviewer that. Very easy.
Next you will have the actual interview. Obviously there are alot of competancy based questions and what would you do senarios.
They will ask you:
Tell me about your experience
Tell me about a time when you have turned a bad situation into a good one
Give me an example of when you have deleivered outstanding customer service
Example of how you deal with an irate customer
What would you do if a collegue was under pressure
Takes 30 mins max and always remember to ask questions at the end!
Hope this helps!0 -
Congratulations on getting the job! :T
Good luck :jI am currently paying back my repossession shortfall about £13,000 to go!! but still smiling:j0 -
Those questions are from a pool of about 10 over 5 areas.
...was it at Lovell Park or West Bank (RCC or HSDL)?
Well done also!0
