Hi,
Hoping somebody can advise. Myself and my partner are applying for a mortgage. I don't currently earn a fulltime salary as I have opted to stay at home to look after my children so my partner is the sole earner. I have recently become self-employed but not for long enough to warrant my earnings being taken into account for the mortgage. I also have a couple of credit cards and plan on taking out a business loan in the near future. As I cannot contribute to the mortgage application in terms of salary, is there any point to us going through a joint application? Just thinking without a mortgage on my credit report that I will have more chance of getting my business loan too. I think at a later date I can be added to the deeds of the house for a small fee. We are married and there is no chance of us separating and so I wondered if a single application in this case would be better.
Hope that all makes sense. If I am not earning a salary to be taken into consideration are there any other benefits to a joint application?
Many thanks! Oh forgot to mention, our mortgage broker says I will be listed as a houseperson if we go down the joint application route. What does that mean exactly?

You don't have to if you don't want to.
However whilst with some lenders it may make a difference with others it will not - so I'd rather go on the mortgage and deeds.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
