Overpaid salary

My previous job ended on 30th April due to redundancy but I've been paid a salary for May by mistake. I've been told by the HR person that the payroll team is going to contact me to ask for this money back, but I've heard nothing yet (overpayment was made last Thursday.)
So, my question is: Is there any way I can legally keep this money? I didn't want to be made redundant and I feel disinclined to cooperate with my employer as it's their mistake.
Cheers,
Paul

If you are not entitled to it, no you are not allowed to keep it. Simple0

hi. I had this problem a few years back, i recieved an overpayment on one of my paychecks and didnt really notice at the time. (i dont religiously check bank statements or payslips though i should). a couple of weeks pass and i was contacted asking for the money back.
unfortunately i had spent it. i contacted a citizens advice bureau (wanted to be in the right before calling) and was told that as the overpayment was the fault of the company i was entitled to pay it back at a rate that i thought was financially viable.
so you have two options. either pay it all back at once or tell them you cant give it back in one hit and ask to organise a payment plan...0
