Feeling optimistic

I've just had another quick 'tot up' with revised figures for December onwards (our circumstances will change slightly then, freeing up some money). As it stands today, our debt free date is 2010, early in the year if we work hard, late in the year if we don't. Anyway, I just did another snowball (love that little calculator!) and our debt free date will be early 2008. So about 18 months to go :T

So in less than 2 years we will not only be debt free but it means that we can afford to move to an area that we love, which is about 100 miles closer to my husbands job, freeing up more money. It will be closer to good schools and better job prospects for me when I am ready to go full time.

So all in all, MSE and in particular the DFW board has helped me and my family to see that silly mistakes in the past needn't live with you forever. Which is what we thought was going to happen. At last we're breaking the cycle!

Thank you everyone :D

Is anyone else on the road to acheiving something they thought was impossible?

That's fab Mrs Mug! Great achievement and how many wonderful things to look forward to!

I think my achievement has been to actually face and deal with my issues relating to money. I was so bad before - letters left unopened, everything on DD minimum payments and a massive overdraft as a result of spending until the card is declined on the overdraft is extended again.

Now I am just looking forward to paying off my two loans 16 months early and then taking it easy after that :D I will feel so rich in December 2007 :D :rotfl:

That's fantastic news Mrs Mug. Just shows the hard work of not spending it paying off. I'm hoping to be debt free by this Christmas and then the biggie will be making sure we don't apply for anymore interest free cards unless we have the money in an account to pay it off! I'll also have to start saving incase the children want to go to college etc....we cashed in a saving policy that would have done this.

I wouldn't have been able to get this far without this board and the support I get. Thanks everyone.
