Did anyone else do this?

Just out of interest, when at your worst extreme of debt did anyone ever withdraw cash from CC to pay minimum monthly repayment ?
Thanks for any replies.

  • I have never had to do this (yet!) have always managed to scrape my minimum payments, (even though other bills have then fallen by the wayside) I have on the other hand had to withdraw cash to pay for my car to be serviced, but I wouldn't recommend it, you pay a withdrawal fee, and the interest you pay is higher.

Can you not phone your cc company and ask them to change the date it is due?

I dont know if its as bad as

    a) consolidation then spending on the cards
    b) going to those cheque cashing places
    c) paying off student loans 3.2% with a 18% APR credit card

All of which I have done in my time!

At least Ive never bought from Crazy Georges :wall: or taken a provi loan, but I would probably have done if Id never found MSE :money:

  • Yes repeatedly over £6,000 worth of doing this. We were bankrupt but refused to accept it. We managed to keep the house by using the credit card for everything.

No, but I did used to buy things in M&S on my credit card, then immediately take them to the returns desk for a cash refund. Marginally better, since I wasn't paying daily interest charges.

In the past I have used credit card cheques to pay money into my bank account to cover my monthly outgoings, which amounts to the same thing :o
