Ive posted all this before and ive zero interest in having this out again
And whilst I can provide a link to the reduction in RFI I cant supply one about it affecting the noise floor of the amp it was tested on as thats on paper:idea:0 -

kwikbreaks wrote: »... hmm... and yet you still mentioned it. Perhaps if you don't want questioning about snake oil the best way to avoid that would be to avoid mentioning it.
Ive no problem talking about it. Its just id clearly be wasting my time talking about it to you
The test in question was done by one BEN DUNCAN for Russ Andrews
Yes I know 'why' it was done so please dont bother posting that (Yawns)
The fact is it was a very well done set of tests that proved that braided cables reduce RFI (The same reason Ethernet cables are braided ~ except thats for them to reject airbourne EMI)
People like yourself that just call it 'snake oil' before you even read the papers in question are clearly blinded by what they 'think' they know and stick to it like glue:idea:0 -

kwikbreaks wrote: »They aren't. You can buy screened ones though. So by "braided" mains cables do you actually mean screened or are the strands making up a wire plaited in some way (which is how I would interpret braided).
Braided as in actually braided. Ethernet uses twisted wires to give a similar effect but not as good (Obviously twisting is FAR cheaper than an actual braid to make):idea:0 -
Do you need to have all the house wiring braided too or does the few feet of this wonder cable somehow block all the nasty noise that is present in all normal mains wiring? What about the cable going back to the substation?0

Youve already proven yourself to be a person that has his OWN thoughts and wont listen to anything else so im less than enthusiastic about answering you
Anyways..........
Do you NEED to? Clearly not, else nothing would work. Do you NEED braided cables at all? Clearly not for the same reason
Does reducing RFI in the mains allow hifi to work better? Certainly in my tests (by ear) and the one Ben Duncan did (By measurement)
It doesnt matter if the RFI got there from the substation or not, braided cables will reduce that RFI (The more and the tighter the braids, the better the effect):idea:0 -
Thanks for the name references it has allowed me to find the paper and a couple of other associated documents. I've downloaded them as they are all pdfs and will have a read.
I was expecting maybne a peer reviewed paper or something in some respected publication rather than a paid for test by an independent technician conducted for a reason you are obviously already aware of. I'll try to not let that bias my opinion of the quality of the work.0 -

It has been checked over by a professor (You wont find that on the net though):idea:0
