I'm married, in my mid fifties and will be inheriting about £100,000 later this year.
I would like to know the most sensible way to invest some of this for long term growth,
without catches or any hidden clause.
Also,I have two children, a daughter of twenty five and a son of seventeen.
I would like to invest some of this money for their future.
What are the soundest Investment opportunities around?

You need to be more specific.
Answer some obvious questions:
1. Do you want to save or invest?
2. What term?
3. What's you attitude to risk?
4. Tax situation? In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -
I can't knock Jonbvn's questions.
That said, I'd cut out the forum and track down a reputable local IFA and talk to them. There are many mistakes to avoid on income tax, IHT, CGT etc.
It's a lot of money and making the right decisions now could make a big difference to your longer term financial wellbeing.
www.unbiased.co.uk will help you find an adviser.
Good luck (and remember to enjoy a little bit as well as investing!).0 -
Make sure your will is updated.
Tax will be a big problem (CGT etc.). NS&I 5year index linked are safe, S&S ISA using a low cost tracker could give a better return.0
