How to prove source of deposit

Firstly they are not going to call the police unless you are handing dye-stained notes to your solicitor or your bank statements show deposits from "O.Bin Laden", nor in most cases are they interested in the specific source as long as the money is coming from your account and the amounts are commensurate with your income and age. In your case you needn't specificy the exact source over time, just "personal savings" would be sufficient.0

not take the risk on police involvement ?
why would that even cross your mind if youve done nothing wrong, if you have to think like that then im assuming something dosent add up with where the money came from, if thats the case you are heading for trouble anyway.
If im mistaken i appologiseYes I can see it does sound a bit odd reading it back! I assure you there's nothing dodgy though, the only thing is the savings may seem unrealistic relative to what I earn, but is due to a combination of being sensible with money and generally going without in order to build up savings, so would they say 'X' is improbable in relation to salary.
I'm unfortunately rather paranoid about police and stuff even though I've actually done nothing wrong at all!0 -
What are the obvious reasons? Confused!
I suppose because if somehow I end up being reported to police etc for 'Money laundering' or whatever (even though I actually haven't done anything wrong, my worry is simply that I can't provide enough proof!) it's better to stay renting than take the risk!0 -

All you have to do is show a bank statement in your name which is (obviously) up to date (when you have your app).
Yes, they may ask source of funds - but you just have to say savings and share sale (IF you need to)
If you're that worried about trying to tie it all up to past statements etc, then to me it does show that you have something to hide or you're just too anal about these things (no offence)
It's all there in statements etc and isn't a suitcase full of notes (lol) I think as a poster mentioned above I must be the most neurotic person around!! I honestly don't have anything to hide, but just worry that they won't accept the explanation that I just don't spend it all on Plasma tvs etc...
I also spent 2 years wasting money unnecessarily on a 'pay as you go' mobile (when contract would have worked out a lot cheaper) due to paranoia about the credit check and the repercussions if I was turned down for the credit check, only finally managed to do it after about 2 years after a couple of drinks!0 -
Hey
A friend of ours has approx £500k in savings at only 34 - he lives at home (with his g/f) and yes he has been in regular employment, but again, nothing to match the savings/salary ratio either - his dad plays the stock market and has just been spot on with his judgements - this friend has been paying his dad money ever since his first wage packet - so given that this is an offshore "tax haven" as some would call us (no we are not!) you don't have to worry about any dodgy questions!0
