Using 'Linked In' to find a job

Hi

Has anyone used the website linked in to find a job?

Is it really useful as some people make it out to be?

Thanks

Seems to be very popular in the IT technical sector where finding good people/jobs is not so easy so networking plays a big part.

I know of companies creating vacancies when they hear that there are good people avaibable in redundancy situations.
  • Hi

So do you think if you are not looking for an I.T job then it is not worth using 'linked in' to find vacancies?

    Thanks

Some parts of it you have to pay for if I remember correctly. I didn't spent much time with it but I found it rather pretentious as if membership was some sort of passport to wealth and fortune.
