Looking for a new bike to try and exercise - not had one since childhood - also my 12 year old has outgrown hers. Any recommendations?
In true mse style want as cheap as possible - may contemplate just buying one for now and passing it on to DD when I get bored/fall off!
Thanks in advance!

How about a second hand one. Lots of bike shops sell them.
I bought one for my niece a couple of years ago & she's still using it. It was about half the price of a new bike.
Or you could look in classified ads and get one even cheaper, although it may not be as well maintained as a shop bought one.0 -
I agree with Voucherman, second hand from a bike shop is the way to go. A lot of bikes get used a couple of times then put in the garage so there are some really good second hand bargains to be had.
Buying from a bike shop is far better than buying online or a supermarket/chain store. Firstly the bike will be built and tuned for you and any accessories fitted. Bikes purchased online or in a supermarket come semi assembled which is far from ideal bordering on dangerous. Secondly you should get a free first service after a few weeks once everything has settled down (only applies to new bikes). Lastly if there are any problems a good bike shop will sort them out, in many cases on the spot. Online/supermarkets won't be able to do anything apart from replace the bike which is ridiculous when a vast majority of problems can be sorted out in the workshop.0
