Reputable tradesmen
My aunt is 84 and lives alone, she needs a few things to be done around the house but needs a diy person who not only is reliable but also not too dear.
Does anyone know if there is an organisation who has the names of tradesmen who are reputablem particularly in the Merseyside area.
I would appreciate any help.

I've found there is no substitute for 'word of mouth' - people who live round about who've had work done and can give a personal recommendation.
About DIY, there are lots of semi-retired or just-retired people around who are happy to do this kind of 'small jobs'.
I know we're lucky where we live, we're surrounded by people in the building trade and if they can't do the job we want done themselves, they 'know a man who can'. That's how we found the roofing contractor who did our roof recently - he never advertises but we got his card from the builder 2 doors down. In return, we've passed it on to others, and I've also recommended a gardener to others.
Sometimes DIY people will put a card in the newsagent's window, if your aunt goes to buy a paper? Usually if they're local they're less likely to be 'cowboys'.
Best wishes

As you specify Merseyside, I'll move this thread over to the England board0

The social services I worked for had an organisation called "staying put" that provides CRB tradesmen for odd jobs. Worth checking with your local authority:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
