Advice on becoming a Mortgage Advisor

Hi,
Without going in to too much detail I am in a position where my job is starting to become extinct, our industry is in the housing sector and my boss has asked me to make myself employable.
That means in English they will pay for me to do a course that can generate a revenue stream for the company and keep myself in a job at the same time.
I have looked at becoming a Mortgage Advisor. I have seen courses of CeMAP 1,2 and 3 for £700 and my boss has said that this is something that they would be willing to pay. What kind of income can one advisor generate per year? We have a high street office so I think clients will not be an issue.
Also I am interested in ongoing costs, Software, registration etc. if anyone can advise it would be appreciated.
Thanks

CeMap by itself isn't enough to become a mortgage adviser. (Edit: the qualification is fine for the adviser, but there are more hoops to jump through if a business wants to sell regulated products).
Is the company you work for FSA authorised/an appointed rep of an FSA authorised business? (You can find information about authorisation here.
The "ongoing costs" question depends a great deal on how your business is set up, and how many advisers there are in total in the firm.0
