As im getting married in a register office your not allowed any religous content.
Well i was thinking of having "Sing For Absolution" by Muse.
I googled Absolution (:o:o:o) and it came up with this..
Do you think this would be a No-No?

Web definitions for absolution
the condition of being formally forgiven by a priest in the sacrament of penance
Do you think this would be a No-No?

Hmm thats a tricky one. not all registrars are as strict as others with the religious content thing so i think its best to just ring and ask! What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0

to be honest, I would't even point that out, I'd ask the registrar to ok your music choices (send a disc for them to listen to) and they may not even realise!
As picklepick says, it's an absolute lottery some are so strict that even a religious conotation to a word rules a song out whereas others are a bit more lenient.
As long as they ok it you'll be fine.0 -
I agree with the above posters - you should be okay because it's not a song about religion or declaring your affinity to a religion.
I got married last year and the registrar let us do the traditional Jewish breaking of a glass after I explained to her it wasn't really anything to do with the actual religion, instead it symbolised how everything changes and you can't put it back how it was.
Good luck getting it approved

Reported what? :S
I only have on CD-R so i'll have to phone and ask.
I read that Robbie Williams - 'Angels' has only just been allowed.
x0 -
If I was the registrar I would allow it on the basis that it is a good song (and if they allow Robbie Williams, they must allow anything - I hate that song!) lol.
I'm sure it will be fine, but if they dont, then how about Muses cover of Feeling Good?0 -
Oooh i have never heard that *treks off to youtube*

Edit: OMG wow.0 -
Hmm, I've had a similar dilemma... I wanted the Florence & The Machine cover of 'You've Got The Love', but it has the line "Lord I just don't care..." in it, so we discounted it on that basis. (fortunately I found an instrumental version instead)...
You'd think that Registrars would be slightly lenient unless the song had explicit religious connotations.0 -
Yay a muse fan!!
When we were having our english wedding I was going to walk up the ailse to Unintended. LOVE that song
Also love invincible. Worship Muse, have seen them live 5 times (going this year as well) so OH has agreed I can have a load of songs in the background during the breakfast (we're having the minuite string quartet)Green and White Barmy Army!0 -
