Claiming back bank charges?

I have read in a few threads about claiming back bank charges. It there a thread anywhere that explains this in more detail ie. what charges can be claimed back, for how long and how you go about it. If there is can someone redirect me? If not can someone answer these questions please.

Can you clain charges on credit card companies too?
and do you have to stop using the bank you are claiming on?

Yes, you can claim from credit card companies.

No, you don't have to stop using the bank you are claiming from, but it is worth setting up another bank account somewhere (called a parachute account) if you bank turn horrid and close your account.

Hi all the answers are on the consumer action group website as shown above, but if you struggle to understand any part of it feel free to pm me. I am by no means an expert, however I have managed to make a couple of claims myself and would happily share that experience with you.
