Asked about this today at B&Q Riverside Retail Park, Nottingham.

They had none discounted because they had given it all away after Cuprinol had given them credit for the stock. Looks like somebody in Nottingham got a fantastic deal!!

Thanks to the OP but this one got away!


If this product is being withdrawn then it may be worth trying some of the other DIY stores such as Focus, Homebase, etc. Happy hunting.

Can you specify exactly which Cuprinol products this discount applied to ?

My local store has loads of different Cuprinols on the shelves NONE of which are on offer and according to the expert WILL NOT have to be sold by September due to a change in any regulations.

With respect to the Cortonwood store ...

It was suggested by another member of staff that this is like a "clearance" store that is regularly used for items found in the B&Q warehouses left over from old promotions and mislaid pallets, and that all these sorts of goods go there instead of being distributed around the country.
In fact it is possible that "surplus stock" may even be collected from other stores around the country and taken back to the warehouse(s) before being moved onto Cortonwood - something to do with accounting and control procedures.
They did seem to think that there was a 2nd B&Q store somewhere in the south that was used in a similar manner.

It may be true about Cortonwood being used in this way, as it is (or was), I believe, the biggest B&Q store in Europe or summat like that!

It's massive anyway!

It was lined up on the desk where they do the colour paint mixing. I spoke to the woman and she said they had plenty more to get shut of and pointed to the shelves really high. They can no longer sell it because of something to do with the thinners in it. It is not going to be legal soon.

I looked everywhere and could only find 3 tins of paint that had been mixed on the desk where they mix the paint...oh well....I did get a paddling pool ladder for £3.something

I presume you actually bought some of this ?

If so can you post the barcodes ?
I've got 2 other local stores that I can try, 1 of which is (or at least was) a warehouse/depot type store.
I can ask them to enter the barcodes on thier computer as see what they say.

My husband said there's no point asking at Homebase because the supplier is collecting it all. They're not allowed to sell it. Sorry.

Just a bit of info regarding B&Q clearence stores. There are a small number of stores that are specifically for clearance, they are smaller stores and not big ones and there are only an handful.
