I still think that you should consider contacting Access to Work (they don't come out straight away either so you may have to wait for an appointment before they visit you in the workplace). Seriously, it isnt rocking the boat - it is something that helps you go about your work. Have a look at their website at least <link removed as I'm a new user>
Don't be afraid to ask for help.
I know what it is like having been in that position.
Will look at the website and give thought to when to invoke it.
Thanks very much - that's both good advice and encouraging words. Much appreciated.0 -
You are very welcome Outgoing..it can be awkward when disabilities are unseen, looking at me you wouldn't know that I have no central vision in my left eye and that my working eye gets tired easily.
Good luck.0 -
Not heard from work on this yet.
Should I be trying to get a letter from my eye doctor? I don't have a GP at the moment as they left for a new practice.
Some of the things I've read seem to indicate this would be chargeable. Perhaps I could ask the company to seek my doctor's opinion if the OH assessment is unfavourable.0 -
You could ask but I don't think they would have to do this, Dr's can be seen as having a bias towards the employee so employers prefer using OH (which employees can see as having a bias towards the employer)
Yes, certainly checking out the web page of the OH provider looks very employer biased - after all, the company chooses and pays the provider. I'm not saying that bias affects the results/report/recommendations etc, but it does make you think.
I've seen lots of Doctors some of whom couldn't really see what the fuss was about. Seems a shame if the symptoms/tests in the records over the last 2 years don't have to be taken into account.0
