sorry another question - me this time.
2 or 3 years ago I went through bankruptcy with the help of some fab people on here, anyway, I've kept out of debt etc, but the thing is I had a phone contract for my 17 y.o son, which I would pay out of his pocket money and later he'd pay out of his college money, anyway he hasnt been paying it and I know have a £250 debt in my name, we sorted it out so that £20 would be taken by direct debit once a month, anyway he is turning into a real dosser, has moved out and keeps missing payments, so my credit ratings are being messed up by the ungreatful little mmmm,
could I transfer the debt over to him? (he will agree and is now 18)
Im sure I probably cant do anything about it but thought it worth a try,
wont bloomin lend him anything again or take credit for ANYONE- thats my lesson learnt!!!

Hi
With some mobiles you can do a transfer of ownership. I did this once with Vodaphone. Not sure if they do this now. O2 dont do it as far as I am aware. So the answer is you will need to check with the mobile company.0 -
I believe 02 is the only on that contract ownership transfers.
With regards to changing the names on any contract, both parties must agree and sign the documentation. However if 3 or more payments have been missed and a default has been placed, the damage will already have been done.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

Hi - at the very least you could phone up the phone company and cancel the contract (place a stop on the account if they won't let you cancel straight away).
That at least will stop him incurring any more debt in your name. But you will still be responsible for paying the debt. Is the £20 being paid by him or you? If so hope you manage to get it back from him.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Cancelling a mobile contract will incur a cancellation fee equal to the remaining contract length, in this case the best way is to report the sim card as stolen, so that it can no longer be used, but without cancelling a contract. if not paid in time the operator will cancel it and land a default on the file of the currently named contract holder.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

I was thinking it would probably be out of contract from what df03 had said.
You are right though DC, if in contract either putting a stop on or reporting it as stolen would be a better option.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Re-reading the post, i agree probably is out of contract.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

Hi
sorry for the delay..
yes the contract has now been cancelled.
It is a debt collection company that has now taken over,
and he was paying the £20-it was coming out of his bank.0
