Hi all thought i would ask for some advice. I have received the below email, cannot find anything about scams with the company. I am out of work and desperate for a job would you reply?
I have looked with interest at your CV on Total Jobs and decided that I would contact you.
I wondered whether you wanted to work for another company in a similar field to your previous employers or whether you may be open to a different type of opportunity in a different industry. Your mix of people skills and experience put you well placed to excel in our business and I want to meet with you to discuss the options available to you at this time.
My company is in Team Marketing and we major in the Health, Wellness and Lifestyle industry. At this time of uncertainty, due to the worldwide recession, it is nice to know that our parent company is continuing to go from strength to strength, with an increase of 20% worldwide in 2008 taking us to a turnover of $2.5 billion.
Due to our expansion throughout the UK, we are currently seeking key people around the country with the right attitude and attributes to work with us in Business and Marketing Development and, having read your CV, I am happy to arrange a meeting with you, to show you our business model.
I am meeting people at The Thistle Hotel, East Midlands Airport on Thursday 27th May, between 5pm and 8pm. You have some of the skills and experience that we are looking for. You do not need to do any research prior to meeting me.
If you would like me to reserve some time for you please let me know as soon as possible.
Kind Regards
Robert Strange

Avoid. He does not say what his business really is. The meeting at a hotel looks like a presentation and I fully expect you will be asked to fork out some money. People with a proper business have premises and try not to spend money on hotels.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. While I agree this is more than likely some kind of scam or maybe a pyramid scheme some companies do use hotels to recruit.
I had an interview about 10 years back for ICL Fujitsu and they used Holiday Inn as their interview place.
I would say just be careful, you never know who your going to see and let somebody know where you are going just in case they aren't particularly nice

Can you perhapse ask them to e-mail you with further information about the company and the job? - if it's genuine they should have no qualms with doing this.
Also, ask for the name of the parent company too - so you have enough information to google.0 -
Avoid - a company with a turnover of $.25 billion that doesn't have a website?

If you Google MFLI Group theres a bit about them, not a great deal but if you dig deeper you end up with Muscle Flex Inc (that's what MFLI is I guess) there's a fair bit out there about them

Sounds like they want to get you selling body building gadgets and their modus operandi is that used by pyramid like companies.
Bit like certain healthfood companies. You make your money (if any) from signing up gullible sales people rather than actually selling the product.
Maybe not a total scam but not something to get into0 -
Thanks all, my gut told me not to touch but a check didnt do any harm will be stearing clear.0

I would be wary of anything where employers or businesses need to go out and actively find employees. If you were in that position with a legitimate company that people wanted to work for, you would not bother to do that because people would come to you to apply.0
