Can Tender Winners Make Me Redundant TUPE

I am on maternity leave and have just been called to a meeting with HR - basically they are putting out to tender the service that I and another do for a large media company in our office only (so in other offices our department still exist).

So as part of the tender we would be Transfer of Undertaking. TUPE, this has caused me worry as I realise that if I was to move to another company my shifts would be changed etc

My question is - can the new company that win the tender make me redundant after a period of time?

Question 2, surely if the activities that I perform in my job are still being carried out by the same company in another office less than 10 miles away can they still do the above? (but I suspect if I said anything they would say sure there's a job for you but its 90 miles away).

Question 3, Am I allowed to have a look at the Tender application form?

Problem being I was not given much info at meeting as they wanted to see what feedback they get from Tender before 100% progression forward - kinda leaves me in the air with worry - not helping with the baby blues.

I am a member of a Union, and I will be contacting them but I just need some quick answers to help me sleep.

I do have unemployment insurance which would cover mortgage (but will this still pay out if I am TUPE outed) - worried as my partner only works part time (made redundant a couple years back).

Any advise welcomed

    1. yes if the work is not there any more
    2. no, unless there are too many people for the work available, in which case it goes to selection process
    3. only if someone wantsto show you it, you have no right to see commercially sensitive documentation

they can also change your shifts given reasonable notice (no hard and fast rule but 12 weeks is common). You can put in a formal application for family friendly hours which I reccomend you do.

Can hubby look after biubba if you have to do shifts?

    Thanks Emmzi,
the plan was that hubby would be looking after baby when I went back full time, worry there was that if new company make me redundant then we both would be out of work.

Problem with asking for family working hours is that the companies that could win tender are both small male teams, they would not take kindly to it. I am 1 of 2 females working in this area of work here in Belfast. I reralise the boss has to obey the employment law but with small close teams it would cause problems.

I don't think anything can really help me, its just something that I'll have to go with and keep my head down and be unhappy - as others would say at least you have a job.
