Around 150 names have been picked and a private message sent to them. If you entered the giveaway, please log into your username account to see if you've received a notification.

The first 50 to follow the exact instructions in the private message will receive a copy of the title.

If I don't hear from at least 50 people by 10am Monday 10 January (with full, correct details), any remaining books will be given out on a first come first served basis (subject to whether you've received a book in previous giveaways, though it's worth private messaging anyway as if there are many copies left over, you may still get one) at a later point. So please be quick! :)

Please DO NOT send me a private message if YOU HAVE NOT RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION FROM ME. Just keep an eye on this thread, it'll be updated with details of how to request a leftover copy, if there are any, at some point on or after 10 January.

We've blagged 50 copies of the book Tax For Dummies for MoneySavers who want to get to grips with their tax affairs and understand how it all works, even if wages are PAYE. And if you need to fill out a self assessment by the 31 January deadline hopefully (but no promises) the book will get to you by then for a bit of extra guidance.

The RRP is £12.79 but it's available for £7.57 from Book Depository (inc. delivery).

If you're interested, just reply to this (click on 'post reply') and say:
"Next to being shot at and missed, nothing is really quite as satisfying as an income tax refund"

QUOTE by F. J. Raymond

To do this you need to be registered for the Forum (if you're not, when you click reply you'll be taken through the process. It's free, of course).

APPEAL: Please ONLY reply to this thread if you will check your private messages to see if you've won a copy on 5 January 2011. If you don't get in contact promptly you won't receive a copy and if there are any remaining books they'll be given away.

But bear in mind 150 names are being picked and there are only 50 books (because sadly not everyone gets in touch, so doing it this way helps to speed up the administration process), so you'll have to get in quick.

Also, please DON'T email in as your name won't be counted. Nor include your contact details in this thread as, for your own safety, we don't allow personal details on the public forum so your post may be deleted.

This giveaway appears in the weekly email (if you don't already get the email go to www.moneysavingexpert.com/tips) and will close on Tuesday 4 January so please get your posts in before then.

The book's blurb...

"Fully updated for the 2010/2011 tax year, this book takes the hassle out of tax. Although you can't escape tax, you can make it easier to deal with. Whether you want to work out the taxes on your own business, make tax-efficient investments or simply understand where your money's going, this plain-English guide has it all. Get to grips with the UK tax system and discover how to make potentially significant savings on your tax bill."

"Tax facts - get the low-down on tax essentials. Tax through your ages - find out how to make the most tax-savvy decisions at every stage of your life. Pensions and benefits - understand the ins and outs of taxes paid on pensions and state benefits. Working for someone else - keep an eye on your pay packet and make the most of incentive schemes. Working for yourself - learn how to manage your company's taxes, whether you're just starting out or are a veteran business-owner.

"Open the book and find: advice on complying with self-assessment regulations; techniques for calculating how much income tax you owe; updates on the most tax-friendly investments for you and your children; how to manage property tax, whether you're buying, selling or renting; ways to reduce inheritance tax; the best way to pay VAT on your own business; the tax benefits of becoming a limited company; and, day-to-day tax-saving techniques."

How will the people be chosen?

150 people will be picked at random (we've a special little computer programme to do it) and a private message will be sent to each of their winning usernames requesting their FULL NAME, USERNAME and ADDRESS details (there'll be an email address to send this information to, we don't want it done via private messages).

The FIRST 50 people to get back to me with ALL THE REQUIRED INFORMATION will win a copy of the book.

The giveaway has a strict one entry per household policy and entries can be deemed ineligible without any explanation or notification.

When will I get the book?

The publisher providing these books will send them out directly though, to aid administration, this won't happen until all 50 winners have provided their name and address. So it may take a several weeks between the giveaway's end and actual receipt. This thread will be updated to let winners know when they have been sent out.
