CV Help

I work for a large company which is undergoing major internal restructure. Quite a few people have lost their jobs in other parts of the country and my position is being made redundant unfortunately. I know I should count myself lucky but a position being offered to me is in our call centre here which I really don't want to do. They deal with alot of irate customers and I have blood pressure problems so I really don't want to be putting myself into a job that is going to cause me more stress and possiblly give me more health problems, so I think I am going to have to start to look elsewhere for a new job. The problem is I don't have a CV and will have to draw one up but how much employment history do I have to put on it? I started work in 1974. Surely I don't have to list every job I have had since then?

Help please

No you don't have to list every job

You can do a generic CV outlining your development and skills.

I have one of those plus a couple of job specific ones which have been tailored for particular markets.

The last job I applied for only wanted details of my last 3 years work.

I'd advise you put jobs from your recent history rather than throughout your working career, unless it's something very relevent. Don't forget to mention if you've done a similar job before, even if it was a while ago.

Also: have a quick google, you'l turn up millions of sites with CV advice, and a lot of it is brilliant. Definatly worth doing, it's how I got my current job :)
