I moved house a couple of months ago and have been waiting for Virgin Media to send me a final bill which I have not received but today I got a default notice from them saying I owe them £56.35. They have not made any previous effort to contact me so I am wondering if there is anything I can do to get this default removed from my file?

Did you give them your new address? Did you cancel a DD that you previously had in place?

Does the letter give you an option to pay within 7days to rectify this? I believe if you pay in line with the notice then the default will not be added to your file, but you may wish to confirm this with them.

As Tixy says it may be a last notice before default and you may still be int ime to stop this happening. Ring them asap

I did give them my new address because they were meant to be arranging for the equipment to be collected. I have previously paid my bill over the phone by debit card.

    The letter says
Action Required: Payment of the full balance of £56.35 within 14 days of the date of this default notice. If the action required by this notice is taken within 14 days, no further enforcement action will be taken in respect of this breach.

If paid within 14 days, then they will not register a default against you.

Is the sum owed? If so, then I would say pay it PDQ.
