Hurray, £10 a month saved!

I know this is not exactly the newest idea, but I just thought I'd post quickly to encourage other DFWs to try what I've done this week: reduced my basic mobile cost from £15pm to £5!!

Basically, if you're out of 'commitment', i.e. your contract has expired, this is worth trying. I rang up and asked about switching to PAYG (I'm on t-mobile and have no particular reason to want to change to a different provider), and they said 'oh, well how about instead of that, we give you your current price plan [U Fix £15 - includes about 25 texts and 50 minutes, after which you have to buy top up - this has really helped me keep my mobile bills down while I've been on that price plan, it dropped from £35 average to £20 average spend, because I have to actually go out of my way to be able to use beyond the 'inclusive' amount!] for £5 a month for twelve months, with a new contract?'

So I get to keep the same inclusive bits, and my bill has dropped by two thirds! I doubt I'll need more than £5 top up most months, so I'm really chuffed! Of course, it does mean another year's contract, so don't do this without doing your research first if you're thinking of switching provider etc, but I'm very pleased, and it was even worth the five minutes spent battling wtih their £^%&ing automated call system! (Finally figured it out - keep pressing nonexistant choices! Eventually it gives up and transfers you to a human...)

Yes, that's what I usually do, sadly though, ringing your mobile's customer service thing from the mobile, they sort of know you have a touch tone phone!

Not sure about Vodafone's, but the T-Mobile number is, I think, an 0870 one, whereas calling from my mobile is free. I'm sure I could find an alternative through saynoto0870.com, though.
