Or - we have a scarily high turnover of staff because we are dreadful employers with poor systems, inefficient processes, no support above or below and probably a workforce of either long-term inbreds or foreigners who will make UK nationals look bad - so you should consider yourself lucky to work for us until we let you go with no notice; because we can.

But - you will not know this until it's too late. Temp to perm is the only warning sign that you re going to get.

OP - be afraid; be very afraid.

OMG you have just described my current workplace EXACTLY!!

Although it is not the one the agency told me about, that I mentioned above, it could well have been.

Every word of that applies here (do you work with me? lol). I'm only still here as after returning from maternity leave they have let me be flexible with my hours and days, as they don't know any better as they don't have a clue about employment law (hence getting rid of people as and when they feel like it), I can pretty much tell them anything is the law and they will let me do it without looking into it further themselves. "Hello Boss, yes I am returning from ML soon and want to work x days in the office and x days from home from then on, as allowed under the flexible working request for parents. If that's the law then you agree? Excellent, bye." I will use them as much as they use everyone else here, as the situation suits me for my near future plans.

honeypop, it seems as though you have played them at their own game - and won. Good for you.

The number of really shoddy employers that there are out there really p***es me off.
