or its starting to look like a good idea..thanks for all the hints, tips and stories ladies :)

we will have quite a bit of work to do before then in the garden, as its a work in progress at the minute lol im in the process of getting some veg and fruit down...with any luck i should have some lettuce, carrots and tomatos ready by that time...maybe some potatos if i get them in this week, salaed size of course :) and if my strawberry plants keep going the way they are we should have some of them too :D as theyre all in pots it wont take up too much garden space and if i dont get any thing from them on time at least the garden will look pretty hehe.

we have decking in out garden too which needs to be finished and some walls to be built for our lavender and herbs..i know what i'll be doing at the weekened :D
im actually quite excited about it, we had our sons christening party in the garden last year and we really enjoyed it, if our wedding reception is half as lovely we'll be happy!

One thing to bear in mind, and it depends on the number of guests - toilets!

i dont think theres gonna be enough people to worry about toilets...but luckily our toilet is downstairs and right by the back door ...easy access :)

firstly, congratulations to you and you OH.

We're getting married on 1st August too and have decided to have an evening 'do' in the garden for close family and friends who want to carry on the party....I think your reception sounds like a fab idea and searching around to find a few bargains will be such fun !

I bought a gazebo in Tesco tonight for £14.99 so I might go back for another one:rotfl: I'll be sure to let you know if it is big/sturdy enough, but I think that's a great price don't you?

    Good luck xxx

If it's grass, think what you'll put down just in case it's been raining (and is now muddy), or people have high heels on. You could check out some camping type solutions, hoping for some last minute sales. Or, maybe get a big bit of tarpaulin and an offcut of cushion flooring on top of it (remnants section in the local carpet warehouse), some carpets places have pre-cut common sizes of bathroom flooring for about £10/roll.

we do have great bit of decking which will have a gazebo on so if it rains feet wont be too bad...failing that i have a huge roll of what tarpaulin stuff i could use :) but that might end up being used as a slip and slide by the kids if its warm :)

the more i think about it the more i love the idea :D
  • MY OH's brother got married and held the reception in his mum's back garden (she lived in a cottage flat, so not the largest).
They managed to fit in 2 large tents, refreshments tent, DJ tent, around 50 guests, plus 3 portaloos in the driveway. Also meant they saved money on refreshments by getting a huge booze delivery from Costco, and reasonable priced caterers delivered a buffet for eating. Seemed to work well, even though there was a bit of rain it didn't spoil the day for them :)
