arrggh a red card! And question for you!

Got a red card left this morning but with my sons name on! It must be a win! Wander what it is, i'm too impatient!

While we are on the subject, do you let your kids have all the wins as soon as they arrive? Or do you put them away for christmas or birthdays?

The reason i am asking is because my son has been quite lucky with his wins, and i sometimes feel he gets too much! I normally just let him open the parcel as its addressed to him. Hes only 5 though, and to him he is just getting given these surprises for nothing (he doesn't even know hes entered the comps as i do it on his behalf!), i do tell him mummy entered him into a competition and he won. But you get my point don't you?

I do a bit of both my son is 10 so if he sees it with his name on he opens it straight away - but I do try and get to it first and put some of the bits away.

    well done on the win.

I also enter the comps on my kids behalf. If the win is a nice one I tend to keep for a special occassion or when they are being particularly well behaved.
Smaller wins I usually let them have straight away.

My son has only ever won once which was a lego set worth £80 i put it straight away for xmas, but i have 3 boys aged 7,5 and 2 and sharing is just not possible(grrrr) so i suppose i would put most wins away then there would be no fighting but if my son/s won a competition which envolved effort i would let them have it .

    well done on the win.xx

I've only had small wins for the kids but have generally kept things for birthdays and Christmas.

If your son is having a few wins then I'd suggest setting a value in your mind - say £6 - and then anything with a value OVER that keep for Christmas and Birthday presents. Anything under that either let him have OR keep every other one for gifts for friends parties - god knows they soon add up to a small fortune!!!:D

    Thanks everyone!

I just didn't know if it was wrong or mean to put them away for christmas when he'd won them! But, i don't want him having too much and getting spoilt! Especially when this christmas was the worst ever and we had to sell things we owned just to buy him presents! If this year christmas turns out to be equally as hard (and things haven't changed yet) then it would make christmas alot better for us to have things put away!

    Thanks for all your replies!

I love seeing him all excited when he gets something too so i am going to see what the prize is, and if its something big then i will put it away, and if its something not too expensive i will tape it back up and say 'look what the postman brought for you!' :D

He must just be lucky i guess! He's had as many wins as me!!
