got to send my credit report

Hi i have spoken to a mortgage broker that has been recomended on this site not sure if im allowed to name so im not going to.
they have said they want me to get a copy of mine and my partners credit rating/score from equifax/experian and send it to them so they can see what they are dealing with and so we dont apply to lenders and then get refused as this obviously shows on your file. I have got mine and was quite surprised at how good it was.
But i have been thinking is this safe to send this information what with all the fraud that you hear about ?
I could send it recorded but is it still safe ?
Please can somone advise me if this is normal and what i should do

Thanks
Nicola

Any document can be lost in the post, if it was a problem then banks wouldn't send statements out in the post let alone anything sensitive.

If you are concerned send it registered post or better yet take it round in person.

    Hello Nicola

If you are concerned about the identity and credentials of a broker you can always check their company out on the financial services register www.fsa.gov.uk/register - there is a search facility

Anyone whois registered as a mortgage brokerage (the firm, or the individual) will have to work in accordance with the strict guidelines set out in the data protection act and also hold a consumer credit license. If the broker you are using is reputable they will have systems in place to safeguard any information you send to them, such as passworded computers, filing cabinets which must be locked away at night and we are not allowed to leave this sort of stuff lying around.

By the time you have got through your mortgage you may have discussed more personal things with your broker than what is contained on your credit report, so it's instruct a broker with whom you are 100% comfortable with.

I hope this helps ease your mind a little bit, if you are still worried call your broker and explain your concerns, hw/she will no doubt be understanding and explain how your data will be recorded and stored.
