HELP!! Photo Candles

Hey everyone,

A very dear friend of mine had a stillborn baby a few months ago. She has asked me if I can make her a photo candle with his name and date of birth/death on it, with a poem on the back of the candle. I have stamped on candles using tissue paper and a heat gun but I have no idea how to get a photo onto candles... Does anyone have any idea?

I know this can be done but I just dont know how to go about it. It is something I really want to do as she has asked me personally to do this for her...

Also is there a way i can print from the printer onto some sort of material so that his name etc was on that instead of having to stamp each and every letter...?

Thanks for any help anyone can give me.
Much appreciated.

so sorry to hear of your friends loss.
The simplest way is just to print the design out on a sticker and attach it, can look very good with some simple embellishments, but isnt waterproof/ burnable (its imagine there is a risk of it catching fire).
a quick google hunt has revealed this way of "melting" a printed design on to a candle-http://www.brighthub.com/multimedia/photography/articles/65089.aspx- but again Id wonder how well they'd burn.
finally, I have unfortunately had to order candles from this website for very similar reasons, their service was brilliant, have now bought a few more in different sizes, including a weatherproof one, which has survived this winter. Probably not the cheapest out there but they have lasted.- h

    Thanks Ashy.

I dont think she is going to burn it because it has her baby's faec on it, think she is going to have it as a keepsake... she has made a little shrine to him with pics etc and I think she is going to use it for this.
Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

  • mine is a similar idea to that above, i would suggest printing onto acetate (spelling?, its the clear film i mean, from art shops) you can get a special printable type. that way the photo is on a clear background and you can jsut warm up the side of the candle wax slightly and press on your pic.
    hopefully it will stick

or maybe using printable iron on tshirt transfer paper and a hairdryer?

    hope that helps
It only takes a second to say 'Thanks, you just saved me a few quid!'
