Radio in shoeboxes?

I did ask this question in the thread about the shoebox scheme which goes to children abroad but did not get an answer. So here goes again. In Poundland they have mini radios and I wanted to buy a couple to put in the shoeboxes. OH reckons they will not be able to pick up any stations abroad so would be a waste of time and a disappointment to the children. Does anyone know if this is true or not?
Thanks

Of course they will work, so long as radio stations are Fm or Am, radios will work just fine anywhere in the World that has Radio stations to tune into.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

We were advised not to put anything that needs batteries in the boxes, because they cannot be replaced.

doddsyWe must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily differences we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee.

Have to agree with doddsy, not a good idea, they might work for a while but imagine the disappointment when the batteries run out. On the leaflet for Operation Christmas Child they do say not to send anything with batteries.0
