Yet another bank account question

I am about to go bankrupt. I currently have an account with the Co-op, but I owe them money. I don't have a bank account with Barclays, but I do have a Barclaycard with a debit balance. So the two recommended banks may not be available to me. Or will they?
CCCS said I should try getting an HSBC basic bank account *before* I go bankrupt. Does that sound like it might work?
I currently have a Santander account and owe them nothing. Are they likely to shut it?
(I also owe money to Lloyds, NatWest and Halifax, so they're all out, presumably.)
Help!

You should be fine with a Barclays account, I beleive they are happy for a basic account regardless of them being a creditor.
I would suggest Barclays and co-op are still your best bet.0 -
Yep agreed....barclays were one of my largest creditors with barclaycard etc and they still offered me a basic account....co op however brought a change in the rules a while ago saying they would no longer offer an account to a bankrupt who had previous debts withWe all die. Strange how CCCS suggested HSBC as i would say they are as unfriendly to Br's as you can get and would at a drop of a hat shut the account upon BR.:cheesy: K2nga :cheesy:
