newleaf wrote:If you get any sprouting potatoes it's worth planting them in a deep pot of compost, you can get some lovely new potatoes from them!
It might ok in compost but I have read on other forums that you should not plant them in the garden because of the bugs they might have etc.
Not sure if it was scare story or not. But something that I will not chance doing.
The other thing to do is to par boil the potatoes and pop them in the freezer to use for roasties.

when i get sprouting potatos ( sounds like a bad illness ) I put them into containers as well not into the ground.....also that way, this time of the year.... you can plant some ...then move them to a sheltered spot or put them in the greenhouse and you will get some new pots for christmas......
or if they are too small to put on the dinner plate.... the small ones i boil and make potato salad out of them without chopping them up......ymmmmmmy...
if you havent got suitable pots to put them in you can use old compost bags...or thick garden/bin black bags......Work to live= not live to work0 -

You can also use the syrup to make lollies for the kids. You don't need a kit, just use plastic cups, fill one third full and then insert lolly sticks when they are semi frozen.
If you have a liquidiser that handles crushing ice, you can also add the syrup (premixed with a dash of your favourite tipple) to crushed ice - your own frozen cocktail treat! Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

The cheese can be used for cooking or topping and crisping in the oven or grill. Grate and sprinkle
Spuds, we cut off the sprouts and use
The tomato, I made a wicked tomato juice
The cucumber, I use as a face mask, rub the cut end over the face, leve to dry and rinse. Face feels really soft.An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T:rotfl: :rotfl:
