Impact of a formal warning on a reference from my current employer

Hi Guys,
I've been offered a new job, but I'm worried that my current employer will mention a recent formal warning I received on the reference.
Basically, we had a round of redundancies at work so I took a job in a different department to avoid redundancy. I was put on a probationary period and at the end they decided I was under-performing and put me on the firm's performance management program and gave me an official warning.
I'm not happy about the warning, but that is a another story.
Will the formal warning be on any reference and what if anything can I do about it?
Thanks in advance
Ben.

Its unlikely they would mention it but if they do there is nothing you can do about it.0

Yes, if your new company specifically ask "has wildsurf got any formal warnings" then the game is up.
However there is a reasonable chance that any new employer would not ask as less and less weight is given to references these daysThe World come on.....0 -
If youre not happy about the warning, why dont you appeal against it to clear your name before you leave.
Have the new company offered you the job full stop or 'subject to references'make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0
