Best bet is a combination of word of mouth and a website like unbiased.co.uk (to ensure that they're actually independent!). Generally you'll be able to go along for a free chat with any number you like, and you can go with the one that offers the service you want at the right price.I am a Chartered Financial Planner

search by postcode but unselect the default option to only show IFAs that pay to advertise on that site. When you get the list of IFAs close to you, the ones in small grey boxes dont pay to advertise. The big blue boxes with more info pay to advertise., is there one that do one free consultations
The initial meeting is free but after that you agree the remuneration method going forward.or is it worth paying for a couple of one offs?
Depends on what you are after.how much are ifa's roughly per hour?
Like any profession you will get a wide spread of charges. Typically figures around £100-£150 are the norm. City locations tend to be more expensive than rural.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Not much beyond concepts and ideas and if there is likely to be any scope for either side going forward.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Are you suggesting that the industry is in a bad state because IFA's don't give advice for free?0 -

No, but I don't rate the advice from Mystic Meg and her crystal ball on Blackpool promenade. And she don't give advice for free either.0
